Welcome to my web site.
Geoff is in remission from cancer and has been busy rebuilding his muscle mass. He’s added several kilos over the past six months with a strenuous daily exercise routine involving sit-ups, push-ups and free weights. More recently he’s been running through beach-sand at the legendary ‘Snakepit’ at Largs North with his personal trainer Palle Muus.
Geoff recently appeared on ABC TV Stateline with Adelaide photographer Randy Larcombe. Here's a link to the segment
The Advertiser ‘SA Weekend’ Magazine 23rd May 2009 carried a five page feature article on Geoff’s battle with cancer. Here’s a link to the story ‘No Surrender’
Geoff’s poem ‘Maybe’ and his image (which are included in the above story) feature in a brochure for the 20th Year Celebration of the SA Quit Campaign. Geoff will perform this poem at the official campaign launch on September 15th in Adelaide’s Rymill Park.
Another of Geoff’s new cancer poems ‘Finding Myself’ (which first appeared in The Weekend Australian) has been selected to appear in The Best Australian Poetry 2009 by QUP.
If you are in Brisbane in August look out for Geoff at the Queensland Poetry Festival, 21 – 23 August. He’ll be performing poems from his forthcoming Waltzing with Jack Dancer: a slow dance with cancer.
The image below, of Geoff with his throat stapled after his neck dissection, was short-listed for the 2009 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize. Photography by Randy. |
